Midway Animal Hospital is a full service veterinary facility providing quality health care for your pet. Our caring, professional staff offers the best in personal attention to you and your pet. Our facility has served Pinellas and surrounding counties for more than 20 years.
Dr. Howell has been the owner of Midway Animal Hospital since 1989 and has been practicing at the hospital since 1987. Dr. Howell is a 1981 graduate of Auburn University.

Your First Visit
When bringing your pet to our office he or she may be nervous around new people and animals. This is one of the reasons we ask that you restrain your pet before coming into the hospital. We suggest that animals be placed on a leash or in a pet carrier before entering the lobby area. We do provide separate dog and cat entrances to avoid any conflict.
Please bring any medical history that your pet may have with you on his/her first visit. If you think your pet may have a contagious disease or may be difficult to handle, please notify the receptionist in advance. This allows us to take special precautions to protect both you, and your pet and others waiting to be seen.
Vaccinations And Preventative Medicine
Yearly vaccinations are recommended for both dogs and cats. Canine vaccinations include Rabies, Distemper/Parvo and Bordetella (Canine Cough). Dogs should be tested for heartworms and placed on an appropriate preventative. Feline vaccinations include Rabies, Distemper, Feline Leukemia and Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). We now offer a 3-year Rabies vaccination for adult dogs and cats. We recommend testing cats for the Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDS Viruses. We strongly recommend spaying and neutering at an early age to avoid unwanted litters. This will also help to prevent certain types of cancer. Please ask our staff if you have any other questions concerning your pet's health.
Grooming And Boarding
Bruce Hague has been with Midway Grooming and Boarding since 1974. He is assisted by his wife Bhavini Juliana, an experienced groomer of 20 years. The kennel has small and large cages available in an indoor climate-controlled area for boarding your pet whenever needed. The pets are exercised at least twice daily outdoors in a fenced-in-area. Please bring vaccination history with you when you will be boarding your pet. We can combine your grooming/boarding visit with your pet's exam if needed.
Bruce and Bhavini have provided grooming for all breeds of cats and dogs since 1974. For these services, please call (727)-391-9928 and ask for Bruce or Bhavini.

Payment/Fees
Payment is required at the time of service. A deposit may be required if your pet needs extensive treatment or diagnostic workups. Methods of payment accepted are cash, personal checks, Visa and MasterCard.
Hours And Appointments
Office hours are Monday, Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday from 7:30 a.m to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Every other Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Please call to schedule an appointment.
- Scheduled drop off service is available.
- Surgery appointments should be dropped off between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. These patients should also have food and water withheld after 10 p.m. the evening before surgery is scheduled (Unless otherwise specified).
- It is also advisable to schedule a time to pick up your pet after a stay in the hospital or surgery.
If you have more than one pet, please allow additional time for your pets to be checked in at the front desk. We always try to stay on schedule as much as possible, but please understand if the doctor is delayed by surgery or an emergency case. Your pet will receive the same care and attention as those before you. Information and consultation with our staff concerning your pet's needs are always available.
